Cash Accounting, part of the Johns Hopkins University Office of the Treasurer, is responsible for accurately identifying, recording, and managing a significant portion of the university’s revenue. The department oversees cash receipts from multiple payment channels—including lockbox check deposits, electronic funds transfers (ACH and Fedwire), and credit card transactions—while ensuring compliance, timely escalation of issues, and operational efficiency.

In addition, Cash Accounting manages Merchant Services, which supports university departments in accepting and processing credit card payments securely. This includes maintaining PCI compliance, reducing institutional risk, consolidating merchant IDs, and partnering with payment providers to enhance the merchant experience.
